Canadians are turning into Newfies

At least, that’s how it sounds to me. This article from the Toronto Star┬ámakes several claims regarding linguistic changes in standard Canadian English, though the accent samples included sound to me like they were provided by people from Newfoundland.

Having said that, I do have to admit that I have a tendency to merge i and e when pronouncing “milk” as “melk” and so on.
